On September 9, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia--Head of RusAccreditation Alexey Khersontsev took part in the opening ceremony of the 1st International Agro-Industrial Forum and the panel session “Green Brand. Made in Russia: Prospects on the Global Food Market” in Moscow. The IAIF’19 was organized by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture and held within the framework of the agricultural exhibition “Golden Autumn”.
Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev said that the government would be strengthening its support of the agro-industrial complex of the country. Traditional agriculture has changed a lot due to not only environmental impact but also new challenges from customers. A new dieting culture is emerging, in which the quality of food and the means of its production are just as important as the amount of food and its diversity.
Russia also needs to improve the quality of agricultural and nutrition products depending on new demands of agro-ecology. On January 1, 2020, up-to-date legislation related to organic products enters into force.
Russian potential in this area will enable the country to become one of the world’s leaders on this market. This is why it is necessary to establish a high-quality system of certification of organic products. In this relation, the Federal Service for Accreditation plays an important part in ensuring admission to the market of players highly qualified in matters of conformity assessment of organic products.
Participants of the event discussed the necessity of the promotion of products with improved environmental characteristics marked as “green brand”.
